About Robert F. French

Bob graduated with honors from La Sierra University (formerly Loma Linda University) with a Bachelor’s degree in Business Management, and went on to receive his Juris Doctorate degree from the University of San Diego. After briefly practicing law in La Jolla, he lived for several years in the Bavarian Alps where he quickly learned to embrace the Alpine lifestyle, the German language, and the Bavarian culture and cuisine. While living there, he used his central European location to facilitate travel into various distant reaches of the world, including East Africa, the Himalayas of Nepal, and the Mediterranean.

Bob has raised his two children in Truckee, a community which he has always strongly supported. Since the earliest days after his arrival in town in 1982, he has been an active participant in community affairs, having served as the President and a Board Member of numerous local civic groups and his homeowners association, and as a co-founder of TAMA (Truckee Alliance for the Musical Arts) – a performing arts organization which has funded many scholarships for high school graduates. In 1984, he co-founded the Fourth of July fireworks display at Donner Lake and has coordinated the annual aerial display ever since. Most recently, he has served as the Chair of Truckee’s Performing Arts Commission and has worked extensively towards acquiring a Performing Arts Center for Truckee, including serving as co-Chair of the “Yes On Measure ‘J'” election campaign.

One of Bob’s biggest passions in life is music. As a young boy, he was surrounded by a family whose members all sang, and he learned to play the piano and played various instruments in his elementary, high school and college bands and orchestras. As an adult, Bob has been a frequent musical performer, whether with TAMA, the Tahoe Chamber Chorale, the Truckee Follies, or on guitar or bass in one of the other many musical ensembles with which he has performed. Combining his love of singing with his love of baseball, he can occasionally be seen singing the National Anthem at Reno Aces™ games. Bob also enjoys cycling, playing golf and rowing his 24′ shell on Truckee’s many lakes and reservoirs.

An “AV Preeminent” rated lawyer in the Martindale-Hubbell® Peer Review Ratings™, Bob’s practice emphasizes civil litigation, real property and construction law, and estate planning and probate. He has also often served at the request of Nevada, Placer and El Dorado County Superior Courts as an arbitrator and settlement neutral.
